A business jet transporting Yevgeny Prigozhin, the owner of the Wagner Group paramilitary organization, crashed northwest of Moscow, according to a report released by the Kremlin’s state run TASS News agency.
TASS said all 10 passengers aboard were killed.
Prigozhin, whose Wagner Group is the primary mercenary group being paid by the Kremlin to fight Ukrainian forces, was the leader of the recent failed coup against Putin.
Prigozhin fled to Belarus, which purportedly negotiated a peaceful settlement between the mercenary leader and Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
The Wagner Group owner’s death comes in the wake of many media pundits and Russian experts speculating the Kremlin could seek revenge against Prigozhin in the wake of the failed coup.
