The 17-year-old Cuban teenager Jonathan Muir Burgos was released on Wednesday after spending three

months in the Canaleta prison in Ciego de Ávila, CubaNet confirmed.

So far, it remains unclear whether any criminal proceedings are still pending

against the minor related to the initial charge of sabotage.

Muir Burgos, who was 16 at the time

, was detained along with his father, pastor Elier Muir, on March 16 following a large-scale protest in their hometown of Morón.

They were summoned to appear at the Morón police station but were

later taken to Ciego de Ávila, where they spent hours in an unknown location. Elier was released that same day, but his son was not.

The minor was initially held at the Technical

Investigation Department (DTI) in Ciego de Ávila and at the end of April, he was transferred to the Canaleta prison, without prior notice to family members or official notification.

He remained there until Wednesday.

Additionally, Muir Burgos suffers from a chronic

skin condition for which he did not receive adequate treatment during these months.

In April,

the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (CIDH) granted precautionary measures in his favor, determining that his rights to life, personal integrity, and health were at risk while in the custody of the Cuban state.
